We’re looking for a Climate Change and Environment Technical Officer who can live and volunteer for 11 months in Vietnam.

  • This assignment seeks to provide support to the UN Resident Coordinator through the Head of the RCO in his role of coordinating issues relating to climate change, disaster resilience and environment.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in development, international relations, environmental science, environmental economics, political sciences, social science, project management, public administration, or a related field.
  • As a volunteer, you will support Provide support to the RC and the UNCT on climate change, disaster resilience and environment, in particular through the UN Results Group (RG) on Climate-Change Response, Disaster Resilience and Environmental Sustainability, the DRMT and other groups.

About the Partner Organisation 

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator. The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team in consultations with the Government to define and agree on the UN strategic response to the Government’s development priorities. This response is captured in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CF). This is the first Australian Volunteer Program assignment with UNRC in Vietnam. The Climate Change and Environment Technical Officer will be located at the UN RCO in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The Climate Change and Environment Technical Officer will be managed by the Head of the RCO, working closely with resident UN agencies and the UNCT Results Groups on Climate-Change Response, Disaster Resilience and Environmental Sustainability, the Disaster Reduction Management Team (DRMT), and other groups. As a member of the RCO, the Climate Change and Environment Technical Officer is expected to support the UNRC and the UNCT in the areas of Climate Change and Environment and support the work of the UNCT Results Groups on Climate-Change Response, Disaster Resilience and Environmental Sustainability, the DRMT and other groups.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
