We’re looking for a Carpenter/Cabinet Making Mentor who can live and volunteer for 2.5 months in Mongolia.
- This assignment seeks to train/prepare students for the national carpentry skills competitions and “World Skills” competition
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need a minimum of a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment together with at least 5 years experience of teaching in TAFE or similar TVET provider.
- As a volunteer, you will identity gaps in the students capabilities in carpentry and cabinet making and provide training on technical trade knowledge, practical carpentry skills and basic work health and safety skills.
About the Partner Organisation
Ulaangom Polytechnic College is in Uvs province which is located in the western part of Mongolia,1350km far from the capital city Ulaanbaatar. It is only vocational school in the provincial center and was established as Agricultural technical and vocational school in 1971. There are 115 teachers and administrative and service staff and about 870 students in 3 different levels of education at the college. We have worked on the program to improve organizational performance management. Within the program the school developed our new strategic plan for 2025-2035. The new vision of the school is to become an Internationally recognized school for the competence of the students. We have a priority focus on strengthening our provision of training to the Construction Industries. In particular, we would like to prepare our students for the National Skills competition and "World Skills" competition. We need an expert teacher who has experience working with students. The expert must have several years industry experience or someone who is confident in this field. The expert will work with two carpentry teachers and support team from administration. The expert will organize trainings and workshops in the field of carpentry and prepare and teach lessons with carpentry teachers. Also after classes he will work with a few students for the preparation of the competition.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
- First Aid Certificate.
