We’re looking for a Business Development Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Oe-Cusse ( RAEOA ) - Timor Leste.


  • This assignment seeks to contribute to developing strategies, enhancing business opportunities, and ensuring the sustainable economic development of the Region
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field 
  • You will be working alongside with a government officials at the Region.
  • As a volunteer, you will support capacity building, reporting, mentoring 
  • This position plays a critical role in shaping the economic future of RAEOA, ensuring growth, investment, and long-term sustainability in the Special Economic Zone.

About the Partner Organisation 

On January 31, 2024, the Timor Leste Prime Minister officially inaugurated the newly appointed President of the Oe-Cússe Ambeno Special Administrative Region Authority (RAEOA), along with the Executive Committee members tasked with overseeing the establishment of a Special Economic Development Zone in Oe-Cússe Ambeno.  This appointment reflects a strategic shift aimed at redefining operational autonomy for RAEOA, in alignment with the Government’s Programme. ZEEDOA was established as part of Timor-Leste’s broader economic diversification strategy, with formal institutional frameworks. The Executive Commission oversees its implementation, ensuring alignment with national policies and economic goals. The project operates under multiple pillars, including regional administration, economic sustainability, and policy development. Contributing to building a resilient economic society of Oé-cusse Ambeno, Timor-Leste, the Business Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in providing sound analytical recommendation and development of business and entrepreneurship ideas and strategies towards local economic growth, attracting investment, and fostering entrepreneurship within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for development of Oe-Cússe Ambeno.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include First Aid Certificate.
