We’re looking for an Autism Assessment Trainer who can live and volunteer in the Federated States of Micronesia for two 1 month assignments.
- This assignment seeks to support the department to strengthen diagnostic and assessment capacity for children with autism.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Child Psychiatry, Pediatrics or relevant field.
- You will be working to build the capacity of local Staff to Conduct Autism Screening.
About the Partner Organisation
The Pohnpei State Department of Health and Social Services, based in Pohnpei, is the main government agency responsible for managing the healthcare system and social welfare within the Pohnpei State.
This assignment will strengthen diagnostic and assessment capacity for children with autism in Pohnpei, following the enactment of the Pohnpei State Autism Act of 2025. The new law mandates the Department of Health and Social Services conducts early screening, facilitate timely access to treatment, and coordinate government-supported services for children with autism and their families. There is a shortage of qualified autism specialists capable of conducting comprehensive, evidence-based evaluations. Strengthening diagnostic capacity is essential to ensure that children receive accurate and timely diagnoses, enabling appropriate referrals and individualized interventions aligned with each child’s developmental needs. Enhanced diagnostic services will support earlier identification, reduce delays in access to therapeutic care, and promote improved long-term outcomes for children and families across the State.
