We’re looking for an Archelogist who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Fiji.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need an Advanced Degree in Archaelogy, Anthropology and or Heritage and Culture
- You will be working alongside Archeology Manager to provide assistance to Fiji Museum including strategy development for the museum
- As a volunteer, you will support in connecting Fiji Museum with organisations to support a sustainable future archeology programme
About the Partner Organisation
The Fiji Museum is the national museum of Fiji. It preserves and showcases the cultural heritage of both Fiji’s Indigenous inhabitants and other communities that have settled here over the past 200 years. As Fiji’s National Museum, it exists to collect, care for and share the 10,000+ objects, textiles, archaeology, natural history and archival/photographs/ films in its collection, and through them describe Fiji’s history. The museum was established in 1904 as a national cultural facility to both protect and preserve Fiji’s cultural heritage as well as a space in which the public can connect, share their own stories, learn and be entertained.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include obtaining a First Aid Certificate as well as different formats of reference checks (details to be discussed upon selection).
Please note that the Program is temporarily unable to support Approved Accompanying Dependents (AADs) to Fiji until further notice.
