Agricultural Value Chain and Sustainable Livelihoods Mentor

We’re looking for an Agricultural Value Chain and Sustainable Livelihoods Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. 

• This assignment seeks to work with ADRA PNG to assess existing livelihood programs and co-design a practical value chain strategy and implementation plan that strengthens market access, supply chains, and sustainable agricultural enterprises for smallholder farmers.
• To be considered for this role, you’ll need a tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, International Development, or a related field. 
• As a volunteer, you will support mentor and build the capacity of ADRA PNG staff by introducing and contextualising Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), climate-resilient agriculture, and value chain development approaches that can be integrated into current and future livelihood programs.

About the partner organisation 

ADRA Papua New Guinea (ADRA PNG) is a non-government organisation that delivers development and humanitarian programs across Papua New Guinea. We work in the sectors of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH), Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Emergency Response, Livelihoods, Health, Education, and Climate Change. Through strong partnerships with government, communities, and development stakeholders, our programs align with the Government of Papua New Guinea's Medium-Term Development Plan to improve resilience and create sustainable outcomes for vulnerable communities.

Our aim is to empower rural communities to become more resilient by strengthening their capacity to identify and address local challenges. We work closely with communities, government agencies, local organisations, and other partners to deliver inclusive, community-led programs that promote self-reliance, dedicated service, and sustainable development.

The volunteer will bring international expertise and experience in agricultural value chains, market systems, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) that are not readily available within the local context. Their technical knowledge will support ADRA PNG to adapt proven models and frameworks to Papua New Guinea's unique environment, strengthening staff capacity and establishing sustainable systems that can be implemented across future livelihood programs.
