We’re looking for an Clinical Education Mentor who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 8 weeks.


  • This assignment seeks to assist university lecturers in clinical teaching for students in speech therapy.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
  • As a volunteer, you will support for curriculum development and the creation of teaching and learning materials.

About the Partner Organisation 

Da Nang University of Medical, Technology and Pharmacy (DUMTP) is the pioneer university to provide training programs in Rehabilitation in Vietnam but up until 2018 the only focus has been on Physical Therapy. The university provided 2-year PT training program (from 1997 to 2013), 3-year PT training program (from 2006 to 2015) and 4-year PT training program (from 2013 until now). From 2019, with the support from MCNV, TFA and other international organisations, 4 lecturers from DUMTP undertook the Master program in speech and language therapy. MCNV and TFA also support DUMTP to develop a 4-year training program for speech and language therapy. In 2018, DUMTP starts to enrol 20 students for the first Bachelor program of Speech and Language Therapy. The aim was to successfully implement this program to enable positive impact on rehabilitation intervention for those experiencing communication and swallowing disorders in order to improve quality of life and inclusion of people with disabilities in Vietnam. DUMTP would like to receive support from an Australian Volunteers with strong background in clinical education to help DUMTP implement the third course of Speech and Language Therapy. DUMTP staff has many experiences in working with international experts, from USA, Australia, and UK in the fields of nursing, PT, OT and SALT.Danang Medical Technical University (DMTU) is a higher education institution in central Vietnam specializing in training healthcare professionals in fields such as nursing, medical technology, public health, and rehabilitation. The university is committed to improving healthcare education and contributing to the development of Vietnam’s medical workforce.

There are two allowances for a hybrid assignment.


The allowance for the in-country phase is AUD$ 2,038 per month, the allowance for the remote phase is AUD$ 79 per month.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include first aid certificate.
