Locally led development is a way of delivering development programs that hands leadership of design and delivery to the governments, communities and individuals intended to be positively impacted. It can and should look different in every context in which it's applied.
The Australian Volunteers Program has developed a Locally Led Development Framework to guide how we 'support locally led change' – one of our guiding principles. The Framework is informed by and responds to DFAT's Locally Led Development Guidance Note.
The Framework identifies how we're currently applying principles of locally led development and the future actions we can take to make more equitable partnerships and share decision-making with our international partners. The document is supported by an Action Plan to track our progress, which will be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
To assist with the review and ongoing improvement of this Framework, please complete our 2-minute survey after reading the document.
