Take off to South Africa with the Classic Wallabies Indigenous Exchange
The Classic Wallabies Indigenous Exchange offers young Indigenous Australians the opportunity to undertake a five-week volunteer assignment, with fellow volunteers, in South Africa.
- We are accepting applications for two projects this year.
- There will be 8-10 positions for each project. These positions are for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians aged 18-35 years.
- This is a fully-funded experience; airfares, accommodation, insurance and allowances are covered.
- Applications are due 3 March.

Eligibility: This program is for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people between the ages of 18-35 only. If you do not fall into this demographic, please consider our other volunteer assignments.
Project 1 |
Sparrow Outreach Project: 1 May – 7 June 2019 Partner organisation: Sparrow Schools, Johannesburg This group of volunteers will work alongside the school team and students to gain first-hand experience in project management and community development principles while being role models to the students. Volunteers will support students with extra-curricular programs. Part of this project involves volunteers helping to build recycling stations and teaching students the importance of recycling. Project 2 |
Eco Village Project: 8 June – 15 July 2019 Partner organisation: Eco Children, Hoedspruit This volunteer group will work to create a school garden and environmental classroom with a local school in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, located in the buffer zone of Kruger National Park. They will gain first-hand experience in project management and community development principles while being role models to the students and delivering valuable assistance to Eco Children personnel and the communities they serve.
