The Australian Volunteers Program values the experiences of past volunteers, and the skills and knowledge they can contribute to the program long after completing a volunteer assignment.
Storytelling is one of the most powerful and highly effective ways past volunteers can help to promote international volunteering.
Past volunteers are strong ambassadors for the Australian Volunteers Program and are recognised as powerful advocates for global volunteering more broadly.
The Australian Volunteers Program Alumni has developed a storytelling kit to support past volunteers find meaningful ways to share their volunteer stories and help promote the program. The kit is also designed to act as a resource for past volunteers wanting to develop their storytelling skills.
The kit includes ethical storytelling guidelines, media guidelines, program talking points, presentation tips, a consent form template and information about how to join the program’s storyteller register.
