Peeking out onto the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, Syria
is one of the longest inhabited countries in the world with a rich
history stretching back to 2500 BC. Cities such as Damascus and
Aleppo contain vibrant new centres as well as beautiful old cities
with cobbled lanes, grand Damascene houses and a thousand laneways
to explore.
Syria is home to a large Palestinian community and an
increasing number of Iraqi refugees. AVI is currently
exploring ways in which we can work in the country.
