Nauru is a small coral island nation in the South Pacific Ocean,
totalling a mere 21sq km. Nauru previously prospered from it's
large phosphate deposits, but significant depletion and a drop in
demand means Nauru's economic future is uncertain.
With 90% unemployment, Nauru faces a range of development issues
and receives substantial support from Australia. AVI's work in
Nauru is through the Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism (PACTAM)
and focuses primarily on governance and economic development.
