AVI Programs: Volunteer Program

The territory of Jordan covers about 92,300 square kilometres and is bound by Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Israel. It is home to one of the oldest civilisations in the world (archaeological finds have been dated at around 9000 BC).

After the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948, Jordan became home to an estimated 100,000 Palestinian refugees. Since then that figure has grown and is estimated at over 1.8 million. Jordan also hosts a growing community of Iraqi refugees.

AVI is currently exploring ways in which we can work in Jordan, which will focus on refugee and displaced communities.
