Practical examples
AVI volunteer Anton Clarke worked with Pekerti Nusantara, a fair
trade handicraft organisation in Indonesia, as a Business
Development Advisor, helping to develop and promote new products
and business strategies, impacting on local artisans by both
helping them to improve their products and opening up new markets,
enabling more secure livelihoods for their communities.
Di Brown, working as a Nurse Educator at Sanglah Hospital in Bali,
introduced patient-centred care and a nursing handover card,
changing attitudes, improving care and garnering the attention of
the Indonesian Minister of Health.
Katie Robinson was an AVI/VSO volunteer with the Regional Ghana
Education Service in Ghana, West Africa. She worked towards
improving the education of children with special needs by running
training workshops for school principles, supervisors and
teachers, improving attitudes and awareness towards children with
special needs.
