Training & Teaching
Since capacity building is a key component of AVI assignments,
most volunteers will be involved in some kind of training,
teaching, or skill sharing throughout their time. If you're not
coming from an education background, you may need a little help in
this area and luckily we have a wealth of experienced educators to
draw from.
Here, we have compiled some useful documents:
ESL Resources -
Teaching ideas, worksheets, games, correction code. All in one
handy zip file! Download and unzip/extract the files. ESL Resources.zip
Ice-breakers - Games
and activities designed to 'break the ice' in new classes or
training groups. They also help people get to know each other and
work together. IceBrakers.zip
Tons of useful environmental education resources, kindly
available for free at the Live & Learn website. http://livelearn.org/resources/
We encourage volunteers to send in their own ideas and content
for this section, so if you have any tips for other volunteers,
send them to webmaster@australianvolunteers.com
Volunteers often find it useful to draw on the help of their
peers. Some volunteers have set up Facebook, Yahoo and Google
Groups for the purpose of staying in touch and sharing ideas &
resources. Ask your country manager, fellow volunteers or search
online.
