How to apply
Before submitting your application we recommend you review the
information below. It contains useful and practical advice on how
to prepare, submit and follow up your job application.
Once you have found the position you would like to apply for, be
sure to download the role profile. The role profile provides
detailed information on the role, which we will refer to through
out the application process. We also encourage you to call and ask
questions to find out more about the role if you require
further information.

Your application should include a concise cover letter tailored
to the job you are applying for.

Personal statement addressing the
key selection criteria
As a part of your application to AVI, you are expected to write
a personal statement to help us get a better understanding of your
knowledge, skills and experience. Your personal statement should
relate to the job you are applying for and should describe how you
meet each of the key selection criteria set out in the role
profile, which can be found at the bottom of the job
advertisement.
CV
All applications submitted to AVI must be accompanied by a
current CV. Please do not include photographs or password protect
the document.
Submitting your application
All applications must be submitted via mail to: hr@australianvolunteers.com.
Once your application is successfully received by AVI, we will send
you an acknowledgment email.
Closing dates
If the closing date for a position has passed, the job will be
removed from our website. AVI has a strict recruitment policy in
consideration of fairness to all candidates and we will not
consider applications received after the deadline date/ time.
Please be aware that the closing date applies to Melbourne,
Australia time.

Shortlisting and
interview procedures
Shortlisting
Shortlisting of applications will take place soon after the
closing date. The selection process for all advertised positions
will involve a selection panel. All applicants will be notified of
the outcome of their application and given the opportunity to seek
feedback. Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we
are only able to contact short-listed candidates via
telephone.
Interviews
The initial interview will include specific behavioural-type
questions relating to your approach, attitude and experience of
working in a similar capacity. These questions will be tailored to
the post you have applied for. Subsequent interviews may involve
follow-up questions where appropriate.
References
It is our policy to take up references at the point at which you
are invited for a final interview or before an offer is made. We
require a minimum of two referees, of which at least one
must be your current or previous direct line manager. We will
contact all referees over the telephone in order to check the
validity of the referee and ask specific questions about the
referee's opinion of your suitability for work within the capacity
of the role for which you applied.
Information for
international candidates
AVI is committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace
and we value the experience international candidates bring to the
organisation. However, the Australian Department of Immigration's
visa regulations do not always permit us to sponsor candidates to
enter Australia to take up positions.
AVI positions based overseas are open to all international
candidates.
