Our Executive Management Team
Dimity Fifer, Chief Executive Officer
Dimity has extensive experience in conflict resolution,
community development and education, and a strong commitment to
social justice. Prior to her role with AVI, she was CEO of the
Victorian Council of Social Service, working to create real change
for those experiencing poverty and disadvantage. She has also
worked in a number of roles in indigenous reconciliation, community
health and mediation, and was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001 for
leadership in social policy.

Dimity became CEO of AVI in July 2002. This role presents
another set of opportunities to strengthen and focus an
organisation committed to people and community development, global
citizenship and understanding.
Peter Britton, Executive Manager, International
Services
Peter has spent extensive periods living and working in
Indonesia, and has more than 20 years experience managing
collaborative development programs that promote productive
Australian engagement with Asian partner organisations.
He has a Master of Arts (History) at Monash University, and
co-established an agency that helped initiate 'development
education' in the Australian community. In 1983, Peter worked as an
AVI volunteer in Jakarta, editing a journal published by the
Institute for Social and Economic Research.
He joined AVI in 1984, and has since initiated new programs in
Asia and Africa, managed the recruitment and training of
volunteers, established a recruitment service for Aboriginal
communities in Australia, and played a key role in developing
organisational policy, transition and communication strategies.
Bruce Campbell, Executive Manager, Business
Services
Bruce joined the AVI family in May 2010. He brings a
wealth of knowledge to the Business Services Unit from his time as
CEO of a mid sized not-for-profit organisation, and various senior
roles at Shell Australia, including corporate service functions.
Bruce's corporate and not-for-profit experience is backed by a
Masters of Business Administration.
Dave Jones, Executive Manager, Program Services
Dave has been with AVI since 2002. He has come to AVI with an
extensive background in the corporate banking industry, including
roles in finance, marketing and business development. Prior to
joining AVI Dave worked for Morgan Stanley in the UK and Japan.
Dave is a qualified accountant, with a Bachelor of Business in
Local Government.
