We are urgently seeking volunteers for the following roles:
- Power Distribution Technicians / Trainers
12 to 24 month roles, located in the Marshall Islands
- Water and Sanitation Operations and Maintenance Technicians / Trainers
12 to 24 month roles, located in the Marshall Islands
Why does the Marshall Islands need help with its power and water supplies?
The water and energy plants of the Marshall Islands need constant maintenance. Staff currently don't have the training to do the repairs.
Volunteers able to work with the equipment can train staff in operating and maintaining the systems, avoiding shutdowns of equipment and the long wait for help to come in from the outside.
Longer-term planning and investment is underway, but the people of the Marshall Islands need help with essential services now.
What are the Marshall Islands like?
- North of the Solomon Islands and Kiribati
- Tropical atolls, home to about 70,000 people
- Warm and welcoming families and communities
- Watersports just a step from your door – fishing, boating, snorkelling, diving
What do volunteers do and what do they need to pay for?
- Volunteers live, work and learn alongside their local colleagues
- AVI, an Australian non-profit volunteer organisation, brings volunteers and host organisations together
- The Australian Government gives funds to cover airfares, visas, insurance, housing and a living allowance
- Many expenses of an accompanying partner are also covered
