Maintaining the linkages
30 August 2010
Have you returned from an overseas assignment but yearn to stay
in touch with the institution and people you've left? Have you come
back to a public sector position and can see obvious ways in which
your current employer could benefit from linking to the institution
you have left behind?
The Pacific Public Sector Linkages Program (PSLP) may be the
answer.
The Pacific PSLP offers departments and agencies of Australian
federal, state and territory government departments, agencies and
statutory authorities the opportunity to compete for grant funding
that will:
- transfer capacity building skills and expertise to public
sector counterpart institutions in Pacific countries, Papua New
Guinea and Pacific regional organisations
- support strengthening of development-focussed public sector
bilateral and regional linkages.
Grants are generally, but not necessarily, between $50,000 and
$250,000 per annum, and activities can be up to 36 months
duration.
Activities must have a primary developmental focus, clearly
identify sustainable benefits to the partner country(ies) or
Pacific regional organisation, and be planned and implemented
jointly with the counterpart organisations concerned.
Applications for the 2011-12 round of the Pacific PSLP are
expected to be called in the first quarter of 2011, so there is
plenty of time to develop a program of support that suits both your
current employer and the institution from whence you've come.
More information on the Pacific PSLP is available from the AusAID website.
