City2Surf 2011: Join Kurt Fearnley and the AVI All Stars to celebrate 60 years of international volunteering

City2Surf 2011: Join Kurt Fearnley and the AVI All Stars to celebrate 60 years of international volunteering

To celebrate 60 years of international volunteering, AVI Board Member and wheelchair athlete Kurt Fearnley will compete in the City2Surf for the first time on Sunday 14 August - and you can join him.

Joining Kurt will be the AVI All-Stars, a team made up of AVI staff, returned volunteers and supporters.

You can be a part of this team celebrating the 60th anniversary of Herb Feith’s pioneering journey to Indonesia to start his volunteer placement. Herb was the first official Australian international volunteer in 1951.

Herb's actions inspired a global international volunteering movement and the creation of the Volunteer Graduate Scheme and the Overseas Service Bureau, now known as Australian Volunteers International.

Register to join the AVI All Stars
Here's how to register to join the AVI All-Stars:

1. When entering the race;
Go to www.city2surf.com.au, click ENTER and then ENTER NOW.

2. Select ‘I would like to search for an existing team’

8. Fill in your details and complete transaction. You're done!

How to fundraise for AVI

If you would like to create a fundraising page as part of our team, AVI All Stars click here – you don’t even need to enter the race to do this.

Click on the 'Join this team' button to create your own personal fundraiser account.  You will be asked for a username and a password of your choice. After you put in your personal details you will be asked for a team password, which is aviavi.

Get your t-shirt
When you enter the race as a part of the AVI All-Stars team, we will supply you with an AVI t-shirt. If you only want to fundraise and / or only want to be there at the finishing line, we will also supply you with an AVI t-shirt.

Once you have registered, please email AVI All-Stars Team Manager, Elmarie Pareezer (epareezer@australianvolunteers.com) with your t-shirt size and indicate if you are participating in City2Surf or supporting on the sidelines.
