In 2010-11 at AVI, our highlights included:
> In May 2011, Minister for Foreign Affairs the Hon Kevin Rudd launches Australian Volunteers for International Development, an initiative of AusAID and delivered in partnership with AVI, Austraining International and the Australian Red Cross.
> AVI manages 32 assignments supporting disability inclusion across 12 countries in the areas of allied health, teacher training, resource mobilisation, marketing and financial management.
> Upon signing a new three-year agreement, the AVI/Macquarie University partnership celebrate the participation of 153 Macquarie University staff and students in international projects through PACE International.
> In partnership with the Planet Wheeler Foundation, AVI provides over $250,000 in financial support for host organisation projects in 15 countries as part of the Community Grants Scheme.
> AVI announces plans to open new offices in the North Pacific, Jordan and Tanzania.
> The Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism (PACTAM) successfully receives exemption from the Adviser Remuneration Framework, due to its program effectiveness.
> 35 Australian Partner Organisations (APOs) supported 51 volunteer assignments as part of the Volunteer Program.
> 67 PACTAM assignments supported 35 Development Partners in 10 Pacific Island nations.
> AVI, Anglicord and the Nossal Institute for Global Health (Nossal) establish a partnership that will deliver the Australian African Community Engagement Scheme (AACES), an AusAID initiative.
> The AVI Worldwide team designed and delivered 23 cross-cultural workshops, first aid training and pre-departure briefings to more than 400 participants from the government and NGO sectors.
> ANZ and AVI establish the Super Regional Volunteer Program, a short-term volunteer initiative for ANZ’s Australian staff.
> AVI enters into the second phase of the Cambodian Midwifery Education Project with the support of AusAID.
