ANZ celebrates first volunteering secondments
16 January 2012
ANZ’s first staff members commenced their international volunteering secondments in January 2012, as part of ANZ Super Regional Volunteers program, an initiative delivered in partnership with AVI.
For their three month secondments, Caroline Novak - ANZ’s Divisional Human Resources Consultant will work as a Human Resources Adviser at the Solomon Islands Development Trust in Solomon Island; Michelle Webb, ANZ’s Senior Marketing Manager – Small Business will work as a Communications and Marketing Adviser with Pekerti in Indonesia and Casey Morecroft, ANZ’s Senior Relationship Manager – International Agribusiness will work as a Financial Services Adviser at the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation in Fiji.
According to ANZ CEO Mike Smith, volunteering is a powerful way for ANZ to connect with communities, understand the issues and causes important to them and to be able to make a difference.
"For ANZ to realise the full potential of our super regional strategy, we need our leaders to have well-rounded experiences and capabilities, an international mindset and a capacity to see more of our world and create real value for our stakeholders.
"I hope the Super Regional Volunteer pilot program marks the beginning of many mutually beneficial partnerships, which will allow other ANZ staff to take part in this valuable learning opportunity in the future," Mr Smith said.
