Social Worker Mentor for faith-based Rehabilitation Centre
Make a difference working in a post-conflict community
Supported by primary health care provider and law & justice sector
Established by the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth in 2001, the Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation provides counselling to victims of domestic and sexual violence, rehabilitation of people with substance abuse, trauma counselling of former combatants and rehabilitation of post-conflict communities.
A volunteer has been requested to provide mentoring and training in the safe house and develop counselling standards and practices. Experience in trauma counselling and the counselling required in domestic violence and violence against women and children is necessary for this role.
In addition to social work expertise, volunteers need skills in training and developing others, applied awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural communication, patience, tolerance and flexibility. They manage with good humour the daily challenges of working with very limited resources.
