The Republic of the Marshall Islands consists of 29 atolls plus many islets, spreading across a sea area of over 750,000 square miles. Ebeye is a tiny island of approximately 90 acres, 43 minutes flight from Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands. It is home to more than 12,000 people and part of the Kwajalein Atoll – the largest atoll in the world - remote but crowded. Fishing and boating are the regular leisure time pursuits.
Kwajalein Atoll Joint Utility Resources (KAJUR) will welcome your experience and ability to train staff in the operation and maintenance of water systems to reduce shutdowns of the system. ‘In the field’ training for staff, establishing standard operating procedures and policies for water facilities as well as an asset management system will be the key focus areas of this interesting role. Identifying all critical procedures and writing, trialling and establishing Standard Operating Procedures into a policies and procedures Handbook along with the continuous training of staff will ensure lasting positive outcomes from your time on Ebeye.
Use your technical qualifications / certifications, your record of success in training others and previous experience in improving operations and maintenance in a water and sanitation utility.
In addition to technical expertise, applicants need to demonstrate their skills in training & developing others, applied awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural communication, patience, tolerance and flexibilty.
You will work with a group of other Australian Volunteers on Ebeye and Majuro, and enjoy the challenge of helping to establish the Australian Volunteer program as a long term partner with the people of the Marshall Islands.
