Planning Adviser – Sustainable income projects for Rural Training Centre
St Dominic’s Rural Training Centre was established on an abandoned forestry site in 1971 to provide appropriate skills-based education and training for young people.
There are 3 main programs offered - Building and Carpentry, Small Motor Mechanics and Scientific forms of Agriculture. In addition, and in order to increase self reliance and sustainable operation, the training centre is involved in egg production, pig production, vegetable and honey production, tropical oil and soap production.
Economic conditions in Solomon Islands have changed and continue to change and the management of St Dominic’s and the Marist Brothers recognise the need for some strategic re-structuring and diversification of income earning projects.
They are requesting a volunteer to assist in evaluating current income earning projects and recommending new ones. The volunteer will also work with a staff member on any improvements that might be needed in financial and accounting systems.
You will need to be flexible and very experienced in working alongside others.
