The Republic of the Marshall Islands consists of 29 atolls plus many islets, spreading across a sea area of over 750,000 square miles. This assignment is based in Majuro, the urban capital of the island nation.
Marshall Energy Company will welcome your experience to improve the standard of distribution line maintenance and repair and improving standards for renewables and electric energy on the grid. Training local staff in processes of distribution capacity (wiring, protection systems and transformers), improving the technical and safety skills of the locally trained workforce, plan quality control and maintenance procedures and checklists for the distribution systems.
Use your relevant technical certifications, knack with training others and extensive experience in maintaining overhead lines and underground cables and applied knowledge of cable splicing, terminals, metering, data logging and infrared detection in this interesting role.
In addition to technical expertise, applicants need to demonstrate their skills in training & developing others, applied awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural communication, patience, tolerance and flexibility.
You will work with a group of other Australian Volunteers across the islands, and enjoy the challenge of helping to establish the Australian Volunteer program as a long term partner with the people of the Marshall Islands. You local colleagues will welcome you into their community - a chance to experience the warmth of Pacific friendships, as well as some of the best boating and fishing in the world.
