Midwifery Academic Mentor |
- Work at the iconic Hamlin Hospital
- Academic mentoring assignment
Founded by visionary Dr’s Reginald and Catherine Hamlin in 1959, the Hamlin Fistula Hospital is one of the most recognised health facilities in world. The organisation has grown substantially over the last 12 years and now has 8 locations of operations and over 500 staff.
To reduce the incidence of obstetric fistula, the Hamlin Midwifery College began the delivery of a comprehensive three-year Bachelor Degree in Midwifery in 2007. This has proved to be a great success and an Academic Mentor is now required to join the staff at the College.
This person will contribute towards the ongoing development of the professional tutorial skills of the academic staff and actively participate in the improvement of existing frameworks. This will involve teaching techniques, methods, examination preparation, marking and documentation.
The suitable applicant will hold relevant tertiary, professional or technical qualifications and be able to demonstrate success in building the skills of others through formal and/or informal training and coaching. A track record of successful results in the academic training of midwives will also be required.
A preparedness to live and work within a faith based environment and to work with limited resources within a challenging environment will be central to this assignment.
