Institutional Development Adviser - Women's Affairs
This foundation-setting role requires a very experienced person with proven skills to establish systems and procedures that will make the Women’s Development Division of the Ministry of Internal and Social Affairs a functional division within government. Supporting this, the volunteer will also look to build staff capacity to ensure they can run the division effectively under the systems and procedures established.
To be successful in this assignment you will need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Proven experience setting up a government division or NGO network for women's development
- Demonstrated stakeholder relationship management skills
- An understanding of the issues that affect women and their families
- Ability to build staff capacity through training.
This 13 month assignment is based in Bairiki on the island of Tarawa, Kiribati. The Pacific Regional Human Rights Education Resource Team (RRRT) in Fiji will assist the volunteer in orientation and provide pan-Pacific networks and perspective.
In addition to professional expertise, applicants need to demonstrate their applied awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural communication, patience, tolerance and flexibilty.
The people of Kiribati welcome volunteers into their community, in a Pacific atoll culture that remains rich and unique, despite the real hardships of isolation, overcrowding, climate change implications and the challenges of establishing viable economic sustainability.
