Curriculum Coordinator - Vocational Education - Assistant
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Division of the Ministry of Education in Solomon Islands is currently undertaking an EU-funded program of major curriculum reform into the formal and non-formal education systems in the context of the country's overall development.
A particular emphasis is being placed upon increasing female participation in this sector.
The Ministry is seeking an adviser with appropriate skills and experience who is prepared to make a long-term commitment to work in partnership with the Curriculum Coordinator and members of TVET Division and EU project staff.
The objective is to successfully source and then adapt relevant practical curriculum and training materials for learners and instructors of urban, rural and community-based technical and vocational training centres.
The volunteer will be working with and mentoring the curriculum coordinator and other staff, and building up the vocational education program through networking and bringing together information and people. However, this may take time, and the volunteer may also find themselves writing individual training modules.

To be successful in this role, you will need (not exclusive):
- Directly relevant tertiary qualifications – Education, Teaching or similar
- Applied knowledge of curriculum development concepts and theories, preferably related to the Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) environment.
- Successful results in curriculum writing in modular formats
- Successful results in teaching, teacher-training and/or curriculum development within TVET environment
- Successful results in achieving results under pressure, while maintaining a balance of understanding of another culture and different ways of doing things
- Demonstrated success in building the skills of others through formal and/or informal training and coaching
- Reputation for maintaining a positive and constructive attitude while facing challenges
