Position Description Community Development Worker-Hato-Builico

Work towards identifying community needs; mobilise and motivate community members to achieve community development initiatives.


The mission and purpose of the Hatobuilico Sub-District Administration Office is to undertake planning, development and administration / implementation of all services and programs across the sub-district. It is the main government instrument in the local area.

Hatobuilico is recognised nationally as being an area of particular need; isolation, extreme climate, environmental degradation and poverty leading to lack of food and malnutrition on the one hand and the potential of tourism on the other as a possible income stream. Resources and mentoring are needed to get programs started in the area.

A suitably skilled and experienced volunteer is now required to identify community needs, Support and develop practical and achievable programs, so that they can provide an improved level of services to their community. The volunteer will be required to mentor local staff in a recently established adult learning centre.
 
To be considered for this position you will require;

• A Bachelors Degree in Community Development or Social Science or Management sector discipline.
• Demonstrated success in building the skills of others through formal and/or informal training and coaching
• Demonstrated success in consulting with stakeholders and facilitating the work of others to achieve an agreed outcome
• Substantial experience and well versed in organisational strengthening strategies and methodologies, preferably in an NGO capacity.
• Project design, implementation and evaluation skills and experience relevant to an isolated, rural community

This assignment will be based in an isolated environment so the volunteer will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of the challenges and rewards of such a lifestyle.
