Adviser/Trainer in Inclusive Education |
Another great special education role in Viet Nam.
Mekong Plus is a rapidly growing Vietnamese non-government organisation dedicated to community and social development of its constituent communities. After humble beginnings in 1994 when they served four villages, the organisation now works with 500 villages across three Provinces. It has also been responsible for the establishment of highly successful income-generating organisations: Mekong Quilts and Mekong Creations.
One of the latest programs they have developed is that of an Inclusive Education program for families of children with special needs. Children with disabilities are normally kept at home in Viet Nam but Mekong Plus can see the advantages for all in bringing these children into mainstream education programs. To do so though, teachers, schools and families need to be resourced and this is the essence of their Inclusive Education program.
Mekong Plus are thus seeking to appoint an Australian volunteer to the position of Adviser/Trainer in Inclusive Education in order that they support and improve current practices in the Inclusive Education program
This is one of those special volunteering roles where a little bit (of expertise, understanding and compassion) can go a very long way in terms of improving the lives of many.
In order to apply, you will need:
Relevant qualifications in education with a special/iclusive education focus;
Successful results in implementing inclusive education programs;
A record of successfully training or mentoring others;
A demonstrated capacity to live and work in a remote, rural community.
This is a 2 year (negotiable) position commencing in November 2012.
